The Horses Didn't Come Home by Pamela Rushby

What was the climax of the novel?
  • When they were to charge Beersheba on horseback.
What were the major things which helped to resolve the plot?

  • Them going to war
  • Taking Laura's horse, Bunty
Is the novel realistic / believable? Why?

  • Yes because it is based on a true scene from the war.
  • Also they talk about all the things that happen and the feelings from everyone.
Would you recommend this novel to a friend?
  • Maybe, I would if they were a good reader as some parts of this novel is quite hard to understand and also if they weren't afraid of killing.
Did this novel meet your expectations? Why?
  • Yes, again I think this is because of how they all showed their feelings!
Would you read any more books from this author? Why?
  • Probably because this book was really adventurous!

Term 2 Reflection

Term 2 Reflection

My highlight of this term was the Tahuna Sports Exchange. I really enjoyed the game of basketball against them even though we lost by 7 baskets! They had lots of Otago rep players that made it challenging for our team! I also played netball for the school in this inter-school and we won by 3. Also winter sports is always a big highlight during this time of the year.

This term I have definitely learnt lots about geometry. I hadn't really done much of this and I found it quite hard at the start. I didn't know how to use a compass or even a protractor before this part of math's. Now I understand geometry loads more and I am really enjoying math's with Mrs Garret!

A challenge this term was trying to be nice to everyone! I think I find this hard because I am quite a bossy person and also sometimes I do get really frustrated with people!

This term it rained a lot meaning we couldn't have ball rush! I love ball rush because its like the only time I can smash people! Also people are kinda scared of me!

Things to work on for next term is trying harder during work time! This means being more focused and taking all learning seriously!

An Elephant in the garden

What was the climax of the novel?
Probably the part when they ended there walk because of the tanks. That was also when Marlene runs away

What are the major things which helped to resolve the plot?
I think it was when they found Peter lying in the barn. I think this because otherwise they probably would have been killed.

Is the novel realistic/believable? Why?
I think it does sound pretty realistic because it is set in the scene of WW2. Also the events in the novel sound believable. Also the feelings like depression is witnessed in this book.

Would you recommend this book to a friend?
By just looking at this book I don't think many of my friends would read this novel nut now I have read it I would recommend this novel. But its not really my type of book.

Did this novel meet your expectations?
I didn't really have high expectations but yes, this novel did meet my expectations.

Would you read any more books by this author? Why?
Yes because I have read lots of his books in the past and have really enjoyed them!

Where I'm From

I'm from farming,
from gumboots in the mud.
I am from hiding in the bushes,
making huts out if anything.
I'm from annoying siblings,
screaming there heads off.
I'm from long roads,
with cramping legs,
and beautiful ends.
I'm from long days,
spent at the golden sandy beach.
I'm from friends and family,
laughter and tears.
I'm from "DON'T BE SILLY" and "CALM DOWN"
I'm from pictures of unknown faces.
I'm from fun memories.
